Parenting a teenager in today’s techno-society is often confusing and unfamiliar. It seems as though we are spending more time communicating through a video screen rather than face to face. Recent media stories tell us that more teens than ever before are struggling with thoughts of anxiety, depression, and suicide. So how do we know “if the kids are alright?” What is “normal” teen behaviour by today’s standards? How can you talk to your teen about these sensitive topics? How do the teens of today discover who they are and what matters to them? How can we foster in our teens a sense of belonging and of being a contributing member in both their families as well as communities?
